Study Breaks

It’s important to take a planned break from study too. Taking regular breaks can help to prevent study fatigue and keep you focused. These breaks allow you to refresh your mind and improve creativity, as well as helping you to maintain your attention and regain your motivation.  

We have a list of Dunedin-specific study break ideas to help provide some study break inspiration. 

  • Grab a coffee at your favourite café
  • Surf or swim at St Clair Beach*
  • Try one of our recommended walks around Dunners in the Wellbeing Section
  • Go to the movies or have a movie night with the flatties
  • Try the activities on offer through the Recreation Programme at Clubs and Socs
  • Workout at Unipol
  • Book a music room at Clubs and Socs
  • Pop into Student Support on Mondays and Wednesdays during the semester for pup cuddles with José (the Student Support office dog)
  • Take a stroll around the Botans
  • Explore Tunnel beach
  • Go mountain biking
  • Check out the Southern Lights (for those night owls)
  • Look around the Art Gallery and see what new exhibitions they have on offer
  • Go to the tropical forest at the Museum
