Applications are now open for the University’s Pūtea Tautoko student hardship fund. The application process is via eVision. If you are experiencing temporary financial difficulty, you may qualify for assistance from Pūtea Tautoko. Applications will be considered by several panels.
Applicants are asked to supply information about their financial circumstances, declare income sources and financial assistance. Where it is appropriate, you may be asked to seek OUSA budgeting advice before you receive a grant from Pūtea Tautoko. They will also need to nominate a referee who can attest to their situation.
The fund is open to all University of Otago students, whether they be New Zealand or international students, full-time or part-time, undergraduate, or postgraduate.
Students are eligible to apply for and receive Pūtea Tautoko funding more than once. However, you can only receive one grant/scholarship extension per semester unless exceptional circumstances are applicable. Exceptional circumstances will be determined by the appropriate assessment panel. Students who have an urgent need for financial assistance and cannot wait for their Pūtea Tautoko application to be processed can apply for the OUSA Student Support Hardship Fund.
