    Looking to unwind during Mental Health Awareness Week? Swing by the Harry Evison Lounge anytime between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We’ve set up a chill doodling and coloring station where you can grab pencils, crayons, and coloring sheets. Whether you’re here for the free breakfast or $4 lunch, take a break, relax, and let your creativity flow. No formal event—just a stress-free space to express yourself.

    Success stories encourages you to celebrate your sucesses, both big and small. pop along to the interactive display and add your success to the wall. whether its the assignment you passed, the fact that you got out of bed today, that you ditched the course you hated and are now doing a degree you love. we are here to celebrate with you! Because every success should be celebrated. 

 
Support Services Scavenger Hunt

Need a break? Get the first clue from Clubs and Socs and go on a campus wide scavenger hunt! The hunt will be running Monday – Friday of Mental Health Awareness Week. The last location gets you in the draw for a $100 Joe’s Garage voucher!

Yoga: Classical Hatha Yoga in the Iyengar Tradition

Classical Hatha Yoga includes physical postures (asana), breathing exercises and relaxation which promotes vitality, stress relief, flexibility, increased strength and stamina, mental clarity and focus. In comparison to other yoga styles, the Iyengar Tradition approaches postures in a detailed and precise way, focusing on structural alignment and extension of the body correctly to restore strength, flexibility and stamina.

We have great news! These yoga sessions run every week during semester!

   Zen Room

    When: Weekdays 9am – 9pm (Friday only to 4pm, Dance Yourself Zen is happening after)

    Where: Clubs and Socs – Jonesy Room

    Looking to just chill out for a while? Pop into the Clubs and Socs Jonesy Room (beside reception) and relax in a stress free environment. From mood lighting – sensory activities, this is the perfect space to take a breather before marching on with your day. 

 

 

Monday 23rd September

Garden Clean up/Planting

When: 10am – 12pm

Where: Kia ora Peace Garden (just down from Clubs and Socs)

Come along and join us for a tidy up of our community garden! Now that spring is here it’s time to do some planting so that we can keep the garden in a bountiful state. No gardening experience required and all equipment provided. Just turn up!

Tuesday 24th September

Mindful Creation Workshop

When: 6pm – 7:30pm

Art That Speaks, Moments That Matter. Join Art Therapist, Alan, for a casual workshop on creating mindfully, and exploring perspectives. 

Yoga and Meditation Class

When: 5pm – 6:30pm

Where: Clubs and Socs – Evison Lounge

Experience the benefits meditation has to offer. Attending the class will significantly reduce your stress and aid focus and concentration. Suitable for both beginners and advanced participants. Mats are provided. this session is brought to you by the Meditation Club.

Thursday 26th September

   Community BBQ at Market Day

    When: 11am – 2pm

    Where: Union Lawn

     Find OUSA and Student Health at the Market day on Campus, grab a free sausage, and look through all the support services Campus has to offer. Have a question? Feel free to ask! Otherwise we have flyers you can grab on the go and look through later. 

   Thursdays at Evison – Karaoke

     When: 7pm – 9pm

     Where: Clubs and Socs

     Join us the Mental Health Awareness Week for a chill, alcohol-free evening filled with fun, community and Karaoke! Enjoy free hot drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re showcasing your talent or just enjoying the vibes, come and give it a go! Talent is optional, fun is guaranteed. Don’t miss out on these free, unforgettable nights!

Friday 27th September

   Dance Yourself Zen

    When: 4:30pm – 6pm

    Dance Yourself Zen! Is a time to lower the lights, bust out some bangers, and dance off the stress of the week.  

    It’s an inclusive space, just wear comfy shoes & clothes and let Radio One pop some pizazz into your weekend. We provide the tunes, you just let loose.

safeTALK: Suicide Alertness and Prevention Workshop

This is a Suicide Prevention Workshop led by the very experienced team from Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust. In this incredibly powerful workshop, you will learn to recognise these invitations, or the signs of someone struggling with thoughts of suicide, and the importance of talking directly to your friends and whānau. This is a great opportunity to learn invaluable skills that will help you to identify and support a potentially suicidal friend. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions they are inviting help to stay alive. Learn how to ask the right questions and how to listen with empathy, and take positive action by connecting them with lifesaving resources.
